Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)

Staff Agreement

Access to network services will be provided to those users who agree to act in a responsible manner. Access to technology resources is a privilege, not a right. Users must comply with school and district policies. The signature at the end of this document indicates the party who has signed has read the terms and conditions of this agreement and understands the consequences of violating this policy.

GENERAL USAGE

I am aware that the computers are the property of the Livingston County School System and any information stored on them is the property of the Livingston County School System.

I will not engage in any illegal activity including copyright infringement, vandalism, harassment, or discrimination, i.e., copying licensed software, downloading MP3’s, downloading hacking software, etc.

I understand that I am financially responsible for any malicious damage or vandalism that I cause. Vandalism is defined: Any attempt to harm or destroy the physical computer, the data stored on a computer(s), operating system, software, or cause damage to another person’s data, to upload or transmit any known virus, or to cause any damage to Livingston County Schools network, any file server, or other technology resources connected to Kentucky Public Schools network.

I will not alter the setup of any school computers or attempt to load programs or services without the expressed permission of the School Technology Coordinator and/or principal/ principal’s designee. This includes personal and/or Internet available software.

Unauthorized disclosure, use, and dissemination of personal information regarding minors are strictly prohibited.

Network storage areas (ex.: “t” or “s” drives) are district property and may be searched.

Network administrators may review files and communications to ensure they are used responsibly.

I also agree to report any misuse of the technology resources to the building principal/principal’s designee or administration.

Any user identified as a security risk may be denied access to school technology resources.

Access to the Internet/Electronic mail will allow the exploration of thousands of resources worldwide. While it is our intent to make the Internet available for research and to promote educational objectives, there is a potential of gaining access to other controversial materials as well. In an effort to reduce the likelihood of accessing controversial materials, Livingston County Board of Education uses a filtering system. This system is designed to monitor Internet/Network traffic for any inappropriate usage and block controversial or potentially harmful materials. We believe that the benefits to staff/students greatly outweigh any potential disadvantages. (Note: Any filtering adjustments will need to be submitted by request to the principal/principal’s designee by the instructor and is subject to approval/disapproval)
INTERNET/EMAIL USAGE

I understand that all Internet traffic sites visited and duration of time in the pages are logged and can be fully monitored.

I will not knowingly download/upload inappropriate graphics or text from Internet or via email.

I will not send email addressed to (All Staff) groups without the permission of the building principal/principal’s designee.

I understand that accessing audio or video services via the Internet, i.e., Real Audio or Media Player without the permission of the principal and/or principal’s designee is strictly prohibited.

I will not attempt to access the network with any other staff/student account(s) or give my account information to another user.

STAFF AGREEMENT

I understand and will abide by the above Acceptable Use Policy. I have a working knowledge of the Internet and other technology services to a degree that I understand this policy and if applicable, capable of supervising students utilizing them. I also understand that any violation of this policy will result in actions by my immediate supervisor and/or the Livingston County Board of Education. In severe cases, violations my become part of the personnel file and constitute grounds for further actions.

Livingston County Board of Education requires a signed AUP on file for every personnel/student that accesses a networked computer.
