Health Clinic Information
There are three health clinicsavailable within the Livingston County School system. These clinic are operated and staffed by the Graves County HealthDepartment,
• All mandated school exams and immunizations are available in the school health clinics
• Preventive health screenings -EPSDT (early and periodic screening, diagnosis and treatment) is a program for children from birth to age 21 who are eligible for Medicaid or birth to age 19 for those eligible for KCHIP (Kentucky Children's Health Insurance Program). Children are checked for medical problems early and there are specific tests and treatments scheduled as they grow older.
• Fluoride varnishing
• Lab tests for lead poisoning, diabetes, and anemia are available
• Required screenings for vision, hearing, and scoliosis in targeted grades
• Monitoring and follow-up of at-risk students, such as those who have insulin-dependent diabetes or severe allergies requiring the use of epi-pens; Health education for faculty and staff to appropriately care for those students in the absence of the school health clinic staff
• Continuous health supervision (including first aid when at the school site) which involves assessment and treatment within the scope of nursing practice, along with referral and follow-up
• Health education on a variety of topics for students, faculty, staff, and parents
• Infectious disease surveillance, such as monitoring, screening, and referrals
• The health professional can serve as a liaison with community agencies and programs to enhance health services for students and families
