Solar Eclipse

As many news media outlets have reported, there are safety issues associated with this event.  The National Weather Service advises, “ The 15 minutes before and after the peak is considered to be the most critical time frame, since the sun will be dim enough to prevent our pupils from constricting, which can lead to partial but permanent vision and eye damage.”

During an eclipse, it can be dark enough to look directly at the sun without reflexive squinting or pupil constriction.  DON'T DO IT! Looking directly at the sun without proper protection can cause partial but permanent eye and vision damage regardless of its brightness!

With that being said, we hope that you find your solar eclipse glasses useful if you choose to watch the event.  We are expecting an influx of visitors to the community and hope that you have a safe and enjoyable long weekend.  We look forward to seeing all of our students and staff back on Tuesday, August 22nd

Be safe and happy viewing,
